Data Analytics Foundations Bootcamp
📣 What this program will do for you
This program will guide you through a 4-week program at about 5 hours a week, with a knowledge check each week, an AI tutor when you get stuck, and a final project plus a completion certificate. A practical 4-week program that builds the analyst's core arc in order: clean and analyze data in spreadsheets (cleaning, formulas, pivot tables), query databases with SQL (SELECT, WHERE, JOIN, GROUP BY, CTEs — every example syntactically correct and runnable), read numbers honestly with descriptive-statistics literacy, and present findings as well-designed dashboards in current mainstream tools.
From messy spreadsheets to SQL queries and dashboards you can defend.

Ends with a portfolio project: a cleaned dataset, a query set, and a dashboard with a written findings memo.

Prerequisites
No analytics or SQL experience required. Week 1 starts with spreadsheet foundations — cleaning data, core formulas, and pivot tables — before the program moves to SQL in later weeks.
What you'll learn
Week 1: Spreadsheet Foundations: Clean Data, Real Formulas, Pivots
- Describe the analyst workflow and where spreadsheets fit in it
- Clean a messy dataset: consistent types, deduplication, text normalization
- Use core formulas — SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, AVERAGEIFS, XLOOKUP, IF — correctly with absolute references
- Answer business questions fast with pivot tables
- Apply spreadsheet quality checks so your numbers can survive scrutiny
Week 2: SQL I: Reading Data with SELECT, WHERE, and GROUP BY
- Explain tables, rows, and keys in a relational database using the bootcamp's practice schema
- Write correct SELECT queries with calculated columns and aliases
- Filter precisely with WHERE: comparisons, AND/OR, IN, LIKE, BETWEEN, and NULL handling
- Aggregate with COUNT, SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX plus GROUP BY and HAVING
- Sort and limit results with ORDER BY and LIMIT, and debug a broken query methodically
Week 3: SQL II: JOINs, CTEs, and Statistics Literacy
- Join orders to customers correctly with INNER and LEFT JOIN, predicting row counts before running
- Write multi-condition and multi-table joins without fan-out double counting
- Structure complex queries with subqueries and CTEs
- Summarize data honestly with mean, median, spread, and percentiles, and spot outlier distortion
- Explain correlation vs. causation and the classic traps: survivorship, cherry-picked ranges, and Simpson's paradox
Week 4: Visualization, Dashboards, and Your Portfolio Project
- Choose chart types that match the analytical question instead of decorating
- Apply dashboard design principles: one audience, few metrics, honest axes
- Build a working dashboard in a current mainstream tool fed by your own queries
- Define KPIs precisely so two people computing the same metric get the same number
- Present a complete portfolio project: cleaned data, queries, dashboard, and findings memo

Sample lesson: What analysts actually do: the workflow (Week 1: Spreadsheet Foundations: Clean Data, Real Formulas, Pivots)
Time commitment: 4 weeks at ~5 hours per week, self-paced with an AI tutor for when you get stuck and a knowledge check each week.
Final project
End-to-End Analysis Portfolio
One complete, auditable analysis from question to presentation: cleaned spreadsheet data, a verified SQL query set, honest statistics, a working dashboard in a mainstream tool, and a one-page findings memo — every number traceable to a source.
- A written analysis question and scope, with the dataset's source, pull date, and grain stated
- Cleaned workbook (raw preserved) with cleaning log, core formulas, and a pivot whose totals reconcile with the source
- Saved SQL query set: filtering, GROUP BY with reconciliation, INNER and LEFT JOIN with row-count verification, and one CTE — each commented with the question it answers
- Statistics summary reporting mean and median, spread (range and IQR), and investigated outliers
- Dashboard in Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or spreadsheet charts: KPI cards with five-part written definitions, trend and comparison charts, working filters, data-as-of stamp
- One-page findings memo (observation, comparison, investigation note, implication) whose every number traces to a saved query or workbook cell
Certificate
Students who complete the program receive a CertSight Program Completion certificate. As the certificate itself states, it recognizes completion of the CertSight training program only — it is not an external certification, professional license, or independent credential.
