🗄️ CabinetStudio
📣 What this app will do for you
This app will turn measured dimensions for frameless cabinets, wall cabinets, bookshelves and straight closet modules into dimensioned drawings, exact cut lists, sheet-goods nesting layouts and estimates — all recomputed from one parametric model on your own computer, offline. Heads up: the download is the Linux AppImage (version 0.1.0) — there is no Windows or macOS build yet, and this purchase does not include one. Scope is frameless, straight, rectangular modules only: no face frames, corner units, curved parts, drawer boxes or CNC toolpaths, and DXF exports are panel outlines, not toolpaths. The app ships with no prices (estimates use a price book you enter), nesting is a validated first-fit heuristic rather than a proven optimum, and hardware counts are your own entries, labeled unverified. The optional AI assistant can only propose changes, and its provider path has been mock-tested only — never run live. Review fixings and loads with a qualified professional before cutting or installing. Backed by a 7-day money-back guarantee.
A local desktop designer for frameless cabinetry — base cabinets, wall cabinets, bookshelves and straight closet modules. Everything derives from one versioned parametric model: change a dimension and the dimensioned drawings, the exact cut list, the sheet-goods nesting layout and the estimate all recompute from the same edit. Local-first and offline: no account, no telemetry, no cloud.

What it does
- Parametric modules with explicit construction rules. Full-height sides, panels between sides, inset/overlay backs, shelf clearance as a visible parameter, door reveals and gaps, and edge banding — finished size and substrate cut size are different columns everywhere, because they are different numbers.
- Exact cut lists from the model. Panel dimensions come from the construction rules, not from re-typing: the shelf between two 18 mm sides of a 600 mm module is 564 mm, and the cut list says exactly that. Edit the width and the cut list, nesting and estimate recompute from the same change.
- Sheet-goods nesting. Deterministic guillotine layouts with trim, kerf, grain/rotation rules and reusable offcuts, checked by an independent layout validator. Panels that cannot fit are reported unplaceable with a reason — never dropped or shrunk — and layouts are marked stale after an edit instead of silently refreshing.
- Estimates in integer cents from a price book you supply, with theoretical panel area never confused with purchased sheet area.
- Exports. A PDF drawing set (elevations with dimensions, exploded isometric, sheet layouts, panel schedule, estimate), CSV cut list/BOM/estimate, an XLSX workbook, DXF panel outlines in mm, and STEP/STL via the bundled engine with read-back verification.
- Project files you can trust. Checksummed JSON: corruption, foreign files and future versions are refused with specific messages. Undo/redo, autosave recovery, mm/inch display (canonical mm storage), light/dark themes.
- Optional AI assistant on your own key. It can only propose changes — it can never edit the design directly — and every number is recomputed deterministically after you apply a proposal.
⚠️ Read before you buy — requirements and limits
- The download is the Linux AppImage, version 0.1.0 (~156 MB, geometry engine bundled), built and smoke-tested on Linux. It needs a Linux x86_64 desktop.
- No Windows or macOS installer is included in this purchase. Windows and Mac builds are unverified — packaging scripts exist, but no tested Windows or Mac build exists today, and we'd rather say that plainly than sell you a download you can't use.
- Frameless, straight, rectangular modules only. No face frames, no angled or corner units, no curved parts, no drawer boxes, and no CNC toolpaths or G-code. DXF exports are panel outlines, labeled as such — not machine toolpaths.
- The app ships with no prices. Estimates are computed from a price book you enter yourself; until you do, there is nothing to total.
- Nesting is a guillotine first-fit heuristic — deterministic and independently validated, but not a globally optimal packer. A better hand layout may exist.
- Hardware counts are your own entries, labeled unverified unless you mark them verified. Door swing, wall fixing strength and load capacity are review requirements the app surfaces — it does not calculate them.
- The AI assistant has never been run against a live service. Its provider path is implemented against the OpenAI-compatible chat shape and covered by mocked tests only, and its default model string is unverified. The app is complete without it.
- Not professional engineering software. Review dimensions, fixings and load paths with a qualified professional before cutting or installing — especially wall-hung cabinets.
If any of the above is a deal-breaker for you, CabinetStudio isn't for you yet — and we'd rather tell you now than after checkout.
