🎬 CutForge

📣 What this app will do for you

This app will give you a timeline video editor that stays on your computer — a single track where you add clips, trim them with Set In and Set Out at the playhead, split and remove them, set per-clip volume, and join them with half-second crossfades or straight cuts, exported in sequence by the ffmpeg installed on your system. Heads up: ffmpeg is NOT bundled — export is disabled with a clear message until you install it (editing still works), the preview plays each clip's source file rather than the final render, a new clip starts as a 0–10 second window because the app does not probe durations, and there is no project save or load, no clip reordering, no text overlays, and no multi-track editing. Backed by a 7-day money-back guarantee.

A timeline video editor that stays on your own computer — line up clips on a single track, trim them, and export the joined video as an MP4. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

What's included: the full CutForge app for Windows · one license covers 3 computers (free a slot anytime from inside the app with its "Deactivate this computer" button, or from your CertSight account page by regenerating your key) · your license key is emailed at checkout and can also be shown on screen right after payment.

What it does

  • A single-track timeline, in your order. Add clips (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, or AVI), trim each one with Set In and Set Out at the playhead, split a clip in two, remove the ones you don't want, and set each clip's volume. Clips sit on one track, in the order you add them.
  • A preview that shows the source, honestly. The preview plays the selected clip's own source file, with In/Out markers and a playhead on a trim bar and a Play from In point button. It shows you the clip you're trimming — never a mock-up of the finished video.
  • Crossfades, rendered at export. Join clips with a half-second crossfade or a straight cut. The fades are rendered by the export only — the preview doesn't show them — and joins set to "none", or clips shorter than a second, cut straight.
  • Export that keeps the audio in step. Export is a single pass that joins the clips in sequence — the audio is concatenated in order to match the video (an earlier version mixed every clip's audio in parallel from t=0; that bug is fixed) — and writes an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio.
  • Deactivate from inside the app. A "Deactivate this computer" button frees that computer's activation slot when you replace a machine — no support ticket, no waiting.
  • Everything stays on your computer. Your clips and your timeline never leave the machine. The only network connections the app ever makes are the activation / deactivation checks to CertSight, and there is no telemetry.

⚠️ Scope notes — read before you buy

  • Export needs ffmpeg — and ffmpeg is NOT bundled. CutForge exports with the ffmpeg installed on your computer. If ffmpeg isn't there, the app says so plainly — "ffmpeg NOT found on this computer — export is disabled until you install ffmpeg" — and export stays disabled until you install it. Editing still works without it.
  • Single track only. One video track: no stacking clips on top of each other, no picture-in-picture, no multi-track editing.
  • No text overlays. There are no titles, captions, or text of any kind on the video, and no effects library beyond the crossfade.
  • A new clip starts as a 0–10 second window. The app does not probe how long a file runs — every added clip starts at seconds 0–10, and you set the In and Out points yourself from there.
  • There is no project save or load. The timeline exists only while the app is open. Close the app and the arrangement is gone — export before you close if you want to keep the result.
  • Clips can't be reordered. They export in the order you added them. To change the order, remove a clip and add it again where it belongs.
  • The preview is not the final render. You see one clip's source file at a time; the crossfades and the joined result exist only in the exported file.
  • Windows only for now. The download below is a Windows portable build. There is no macOS or Linux build yet — we'd rather say that plainly than promise one. Your license will work on those builds if and when they're published.
  • Human GUI click-through is still pending. Checkout, licensing, and activation are covered end to end by automated tests, but the app's hands-on flows have not yet had a full human play-through on a real Windows machine — the in-app experience is v1.1 and we will say so plainly until that pass is done.

If any of the above is a deal-breaker for you, v1.1 isn't for you yet — and we'd rather tell you now than after checkout.

Download

Windows 10/11 (64-bit), portable build — no installer, just download and run.

macOS and Linux are not available yet. There is no build for them today; if one is published later, this same license key will activate it.

The app is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show a warning on first launch — this is normal for a new publisher. Choose "More info → Run anyway" to start it.

How activation works: at checkout your license key is emailed to you (and can be shown on screen right after payment). Enter it on the app's activation screen — one license activates on up to 3 computers, with 30-day offline trust after activation. Replacing a computer? Use "Deactivate this computer" inside the app to free its slot, or generate a fresh key from your account page (the old key stops working).
