📣 What this app will do for you
This app will check an image, video, voice clip, or text on your own computer and tell you what the evidence actually supports — a suspicion band with the reasons for the band, from deterministic forensic signals. Your files never leave your device. Heads up: a suspicion band is a triage priority for human review, never a verdict.
Is this image, video, voice clip, or text real — or was it made or changed by AI? FakeForge checks it on your own computer and tells you what the evidence actually supports.

What it does
- Four media kinds — images, video, audio (voice), and text, each checked with the signals that honestly apply to that kind.
- Deterministic forensic signals — metadata and timestamp inconsistencies, JPEG error-level analysis and quantization anomalies, container/encoder inconsistencies, sampled-frame compression artifacts, audio spectral checks, and text style signals (sentence-length variance, repetition, over-regular structure).
- A suspicion band, not a verdict — every result shows its per-signal findings plus an overall band: low, medium, high, or inconclusive, with the reasons for the band. When in doubt, the app prefers inconclusive over low.
- Local-first privacy — files NEVER leave your device. No uploads, no cloud, no telemetry, and no account inside the app. The only network use is license activation/deactivation — the check itself runs on your computer and the file stays there.
- A browser companion — the Deepfake Detector web tool runs the same triage approach browser-locally for quick checks (its tool code makes zero network calls — your files never leave the browser). FakeForge adds what the browser cannot do: container/encoder strings and muxing hints read from the file bytes, and a saved plain-language report (.txt).
⚠️ Read this before you buy — what FakeForge does NOT do
- This is not proof that media is real or fake. Every result says so. A suspicion band is a triage priority for human review, not a finding of fact. No result ever claims content is "confirmed fake" or "confirmed real," and nothing here claims a person is lying or a crime occurred.
- No neural-network detector, no accuracy claims. FakeForge does not claim a percentage accuracy and does not use a claimed AI model to decide. If a check cannot be done honestly with the available tools, it is listed as a limitation, not faked.
- No face tracking, lip-sync, blink, or gaze analysis. Those need a real model FakeForge does not ship, so they are not implemented or implied.
- No speaker identification. FakeForge never claims audio is or is not a specific person's voice.
- Text is the weakest kind. Text results are style signals only, with a high false-positive rate — careful human writing, edited copy, and legal or technical prose all trigger them. Short texts (under ~100 words) are inconclusive by default, and text bands are never presented as equally reliable as image, video, or audio bands.
- Voice-clone signals are weak. A good clone through a phone codec is often indistinguishable from a real voice by these signals, and clean studio recordings of real voices look "too clean" too. Every audio result says so.
- Re-encoding washes out evidence. Social platforms recompress everything, so a high error response on a social-media download is weak evidence, and heavily compressed audio skews toward inconclusive. A fully AI-generated image may carry perfectly consistent metadata.
- No reporting, takedown, or accusation workflows. FakeForge triages media for your own review; it does not file reports or contact anyone.
- The macOS installer is coming. It needs a Mac build, so v1 ships Windows and Linux only — the macOS download will appear here the moment it's published.
- Human GUI click-through is still pending. The licensing, checkout and activation paths are covered by automated tests; the in-app experience is v1 and we will say so plainly until that pass is done.
If any of the above is a deal-breaker for you, v1 isn't for you yet — and we'd rather tell you now than after checkout.

Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and Linux (64-bit). macOS coming with a Mac build.
The macOS installer is being prepared and will appear here the moment it's published — your license key will work as soon as it's posted.
The installers are unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may show a warning on first launch — this is normal for a new publisher. On macOS, right-click the app and choose Open; on Windows, choose "More info → Run anyway".
One license activates on up to 3 computers, with 30-day offline trust after activation. No account inside the app, no telemetry, no phone-home beyond license activation/deactivation (re-activation is needed when the 30-day offline trust expires). Your files never leave your device.
