🗂️ Media Organizer

📣 What this app will do for you

This app will take 200 photos named IMG_0001… and turn it into files renamed and sorted into folders by date. It's your Bulk rename + organize files — built for exactly that job.

Bulk rename and organize a folder of photos, videos, or documents — without uploading anything anywhere. Every file is processed in your own browser, on your own device.

How it works — and what it honestly cannot do

  • Your files never leave your device. There is no upload step: the server never sees your file names, contents, or folder structure. Closing the tab discards everything.
  • In-place folder renaming works only in Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium browsers on desktop). They support the File System Access API's folder picker, which lets this page rename files inside a folder you choose.
  • Other browsers get an honest fallback, not a fake rename. In Firefox, Safari, and any browser without folder-picker support, you pick files with a standard file picker, preview the new names, and download renamed copies. The fallback does not rename your original files in place — it creates renamed downloads, and you replace the originals yourself if you want to.
  • Nothing is renamed until you confirm. You always see a before/after preview first, and renaming only starts after you explicitly confirm it.
  • Limits: this tool renames files; it does not move files between folders, edit file contents or metadata, or read photo EXIF dates — the date prefix uses each file's modified date as reported by your system. Very large folders may be slow, and in-place renaming needs the permission prompt for the folder you pick. If your browser blocks multiple downloads, the fallback may download only some copies — check the per-file results.

Browser support

BrowserWhat you get
Chrome / Edge / Brave (desktop)Pick a folder and rename files in place.
Firefox, Safari, and other browsersFile picker + preview + downloadable renamed copies. Originals are not renamed in place.

The tool detects your browser's capabilities when it loads and tells you which mode you are in — the table above is a guide, not a promise, because browser support changes over time.

What you get

  • Bulk rename with a live preview — find/replace text, sequential numbering with a start number and digit padding, a date prefix from each file's modified date, and an extension filter so only the file types you choose are touched.
  • Duplicate detection — files sharing a name and size with another file are flagged in the preview. Nothing is ever deleted automatically.
  • Collision warnings — if two files would end up with the same name in the same folder, the preview says so and Apply stays disabled until you fix the rules.
  • Explicit confirmation — nothing is renamed until you review the full before/after table and confirm.
  • Private by design — no uploads, no accounts beyond your CertSight purchase, no ads, no chat, no external links inside the tool.
