⚙️ PartStudio

📣 What this app will do for you

This app will turn measured requirements into editable parametric CAD parts on your own computer: electronics enclosures with separate lids and explicit fit clearance, trays/organizers with dividers, and L-brackets with a fixed hole pattern — rebuilt deterministically after every parameter change, measured against the values you asked for, and exported as STEP/STL per component (verified by read-back) plus dimensioned PDF drawings. Heads up: the download is the Linux AppImage (version 0.1.0) — there is no Windows or macOS build yet, and this purchase does not include one. The geometry engine is early-stage: fillets are limited to an optional enclosure corner radius, hole patterns are fixed, there are no ribs, bosses, vents or threads, and imported STEP/STL files are view-and-measure references, not editable parts. The optional AI assistant runs on your own API key and can only propose changes; manual mode is complete without one. It is not professional engineering software — have a qualified professional review designs before fabrication. Backed by a 7-day money-back guarantee.

A local desktop app that turns measured requirements into editable CAD parts. You design with parameters — outer width, wall thickness, fit clearance — and PartStudio rebuilds the solid deterministically after every change and measures the result, so expected and actual values can be compared side by side. First release: simple electronics enclosures with removable lids, trays/organizers, and ordinary non-safety-critical brackets.

What it does

  • Parametric part families. An enclosure with a separate lid and an explicit per-side fit-clearance parameter, a tray/organizer with dividers, and an L-bracket with a fixed centred hole pattern. Change a number and the solid rebuilds; undo/redo covers manual edits and AI proposals alike.
  • Validation before geometry. Negative or zero dimensions, impossible cavities, holes through walls and negative clearances are rejected with an explanation — the last valid design is always kept.
  • A real workspace. A 3D viewport (orbit/pan/zoom, orthographic presets, a view-only section slider, component selection), a parameter inspector with mm/inch display beside every value, a feature-history panel, and a measurement card showing expected vs measured values.
  • Exports verified by reading the file back. STEP and STL per component — checked through a re-import/parser before anything is written to your chosen path — plus dimensioned PDF drawings generated from model data with labeled views, true dimensions, revision and a scale statement, and an STL manifest stating the export unit.
  • Projects that survive accidents. A versioned native format with atomic saves (plus a backup of the previous file), autosave with crash-recovery offers, and checksum-based corruption detection with actionable errors.
  • Optional AI assistant on your own key. Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The model may only propose schema-validated parameter changes; proposals show a diff and the model's stated assumptions before you apply them, and a session token budget is enforced. Manual mode is the default and is fully functional with no key at all.

⚠️ Read before you buy — requirements and limits

  • The download is the Linux AppImage, version 0.1.0, built and smoke-verified on Linux (Ubuntu 24.04). It needs a Linux x86_64 desktop, and it is a large download (~156 MB) because the geometry engine is bundled.
  • No Windows or macOS installer is included in this purchase. Windows and Mac packaging scripts exist in the source project, but they have never produced a tested build — PartStudio does not run on Windows or Mac today, and we'd rather say that plainly than sell you a download you can't use.
  • Early-stage geometry engine. The pinned SolidCraft engine handles the three part families well, but fillets and shells are reliable only on simple geometry: v1 exposes fillets only as an optional corner radius on enclosure vertical edges, and cavities are boolean cuts rather than shells.
  • Fixed hole patterns only. Enclosure holes are the four-corner base pattern and bracket holes a fixed centred pattern. There is no arbitrary hole placement, and no ribs, bosses, vents or threads in v1.
  • Imported STEP/STL files are references, not editable parts. STEP assemblies flatten on import, and imported files carry no editable feature history — you can view and measure them, not remodel them. STL unit interpretation is always confirmed by you.
  • Drawings are generated orthographic outlines, fit to page. No 2D drawing engine is bundled; the printed numbers are the dimensions of record, not the print scale.
  • Not professional engineering software. PartStudio is scoped to simple, non-safety-critical parts. Have a qualified professional review any design before fabrication — especially anything load-bearing or safety-relevant — and verify dimensions independently before machining or printing.
  • AI features run on your own API key and your own billing (any OpenAI-compatible endpoint); the $19.99 buys this software only — no AI account, credits, or subscription are included. Keys are stored via your OS credential store where available.

If any of the above is a deal-breaker for you, PartStudio isn't for you yet — and we'd rather tell you now than after checkout.
