What it does

  • Your folders, indexed in place. Add local folders, external drives or network folders; PhotoForge indexes them where they sit. Your files are never copied or moved, and indexing runs in the background.
  • Grid and timeline views. Browse the whole library in a grid, or by timeline grouped by year, month and day from each photo's EXIF date — plus folder view, favorites, recently added and recently edited.
  • Real metadata, safely stored. The EXIF panel shows camera, lens, aperture, ISO, exposure and GPS. Ratings, tags and captions you add live in PhotoForge's own database — your original files are never modified.
  • Manual and smart albums. Build albums by hand, or smart albums that fill themselves from rules — a year, a person, a rating, a tag, a folder.
  • A duplicate finder that asks first. It finds exact duplicates and visually similar images (resized and edited copies, burst shots) and shows them in a review screen. Files go to the Recycle Bin only when you choose — nothing is ever deleted automatically.
  • Quality flags. Blurry, too dark, overexposed and low-resolution photos are flagged so you can review them — suggestions only, never automatic action.
  • Non-destructive editing. Exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows, saturation, vibrance, white balance, crop, rotate and straighten, black & white, vignette and sharpen — saved as an editable recipe per photo. Exporting writes a new file; the original stays untouched.

  • Windows 10/11 only. PhotoForge runs on Windows today. No macOS version is included in this purchase — there is no Mac build yet.
  • The app is unsigned. Windows SmartScreen will warn on first launch ("Windows protected your PC"). Choose "More info → Run anyway" — only for the file you downloaded from this page after buying.
  • No AI restoration tools. PhotoForge has no AI restoration, upscaling, object removal or colorization. Its face features are detection and grouping only — it never identifies who a person is.
  • RAW files are metadata only. PhotoForge reads RAW metadata and shows previews where Windows provides them; it does not render or develop RAW files.
  • No cloud sync or backup. PhotoForge is local-first by design: it does not sync, upload or back up your photos anywhere. Your existing backup routine stays your backup.
  • HEIC/HEIF depends on Windows. Those formats display where your Windows installation has the codec for them; JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, BMP and GIF are supported directly.
