🎬 ShowHow Studio

📣 What this app will do for you

This app will take screenshots + written steps for setting up a printer and turn it into a step-by-step guide built from them (masks are display overlays by default — only an explicit Permanent-apply overwrites the stored image). It's your Build step-by-step guides from screenshots and written instructions — built for exactly that job.

Build step-by-step guides from screenshots and written instructions: your screenshots, your words, in order — with labels on the screenshots and visual masking over sensitive bits.

Visual masking, not permanent redaction: a visual mask is a black box drawn over part of a screenshot in the rendered guide only. Your original screenshot is stored on CertSight's server in your account, with the masked content still intact and recoverable from that stored original. A masked guide is not sanitized for sensitive sharing — do not upload a screenshot containing information you would never want recovered.

Redacted export (scrubbed export) — a sanitized copy: for any step, the scrubbed export downloads that step's screenshot with its mask regions painted solid black into the actual image pixels and all metadata stripped, as a fresh image file — it never contains the stored original bytes, so the exported image is sanitized for sensitive sharing (the plain masked view is not, and the stored screenshot itself becomes sanitized only if you permanently apply). Downloading the scrubbed export does not delete your stored original. Only Permanently apply redaction does that: it overwrites the step's stored screenshot with the scrubbed version and clears its masks, destroying the original for that step — this cannot be undone. Until you permanently apply, the original stays stored on CertSight's server in your account for editing. Masks are placed by hand only — there is no automatic detection of sensitive content, no redaction of video, and no scrubbing across guides.

Fictional example — a finished sample guide

Clearly fictional example, not a real guide: every name, company, and screenshot below is invented to show what a finished guide looks like. A real guide uses screenshots you upload yourself; this example uses placeholder boxes so no real data is shown. You can judge the format from this example without owning the tool.

Sample guide: How to export a report from a fictional dashboard

Fictional company "Acme Widgets" — invented for this example only.

  1. Step 1. Open the fictional Acme dashboard and sign in with your practice account.
    Dashboard home

Fictional screenshot placeholder — a real guide shows your own uploaded screenshot here.

  2. Step 2. Click Reports in the left menu, then click Export in the top-right.
    Click Export here

Fictional screenshot placeholder — a real guide shows your own uploaded screenshot here.

  3. Step 3. Choose CSV and save the file. Before sharing the guide, mask anything sensitive.

Export format: CSV masked fictional account number

Visual mask (black box) in this example: it hides the text in the rendered guide only. In a real guide the stored original screenshot still contains whatever was masked, so a masked guide is not sanitized for sensitive sharing. To share a sanitized copy of a step, use that step's scrubbed export — the exported image has the masks painted into its pixels and its metadata stripped — or permanently apply its masks, which overwrites the stored screenshot with the scrubbed version.

That is the whole format: numbered instructions you write, screenshots you supply, labels you place, and visual masks you place — searchable by title and step text, editable or deletable at any time. No recording, no video, no AI.

What ShowHow Studio is — and is not

  • It is a manual guide builder: you upload your own screenshots, type each numbered instruction, place text labels on the screenshots, and place visual masks over regions you want hidden in the rendered guide. Guides are searchable by title and step text, and you can edit or delete any step before anyone uses the guide.
  • It is not screen recording. It cannot record your screen, watch you work, or capture steps automatically.
  • It is not video. It does not accept, process, or extract steps from video or audio files. Only image uploads and typed text.
  • It is not AI. Nothing here is generated or assisted by AI; every word and label in a guide is one you wrote.
  • Visual masking is an overlay, not a scrub — not permanent redaction. A visual mask (black box) hides information in the rendered guide, but the original uploaded image is stored on CertSight's server in your account, unchanged, so masked content remains recoverable from that stored original. A masked guide is not sanitized for sensitive sharing. Never upload a screenshot whose hidden content must never be recoverable.
  • The scrubbed export is a true scrub — for one step's image only. Downloading a step's scrubbed export gives you a fresh image with the mask regions painted solid black into the actual pixels and all metadata stripped; it never contains the stored original bytes, so only that exported image is sanitized for sensitive sharing (the stored screenshot becomes sanitized only after you permanently apply). Downloading it does not delete the stored original. Only Permanently apply redaction destroys the stored original, by overwriting the step's screenshot with the scrubbed version — and it cannot be undone. There is no automatic detection of sensitive content, no video redaction, and no scrubbing across guides: you place every mask by hand, one step at a time.
  • Guides are private to their owner in v1. There are no share links and no collaboration: only you, signed in, can see your guides.
