TaxForge is a tax organizer only. It is not tax advice and is not a filing service. It stores receipts you enter, tracks checklist items you check, and adds up amounts you entered — nothing more. It does not calculate any tax figure, does not tell you what belongs in any category, and does not file anything anywhere. For questions about your own situation, consult a qualified tax professional.

What it does

• Receipts — create, edit, and delete receipts with date, vendor, amount, and category.
• Deduction checklists — standard categories, each with checkable items and a free-text note per item. Checking an item is only your own record-keeping note.
• Category totals — plain sums of the amounts you entered, per category, plus a grand total. No other computation is performed.
• Export pack — two CSV files written to a folder you choose: receipts.csv (date, vendor, amount, category) and checklist-summary.csv (every checklist item, checked or not, with its note and its category's receipt total).
• Sample data, clearly labeled — sample receipts carry a SAMPLE flag and trigger a SAMPLE banner until removed with "Remove all sample data".
• Everything runs on your computer. Data lives in a local JSON file; nothing is uploaded anywhere; there are no accounts and no sync servers.

⚠️ Scope notes — read before you buy

• Organizer only — not tax advice, not a filing service, no tax computation beyond summing entered amounts.
• No receipt scanning, photo import, or OCR — entries are typed in by hand.
• No bank or account connections, no imports.
• No cloud sync, no collaboration, no accounts. TaxForge is single-player by design.
• The macOS installer is coming. It needs a Mac build, so v1 ships Windows and Linux only — the macOS download will appear here the moment it's published.
• Human GUI click-through is still pending. The app's hands-on flows have not yet had a full human play-through pass. The licensing, checkout and activation paths are covered by automated tests; the in-app experience is v1 and we will say so plainly until that pass is done.

The installers are unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may show a warning on first launch — this is normal for a new publisher. On macOS, right-click the app and choose Open; on Windows, choose "More info → Run anyway".
