What it does

• Opens the common formats with everything built in. ZIP, TAR, TAR.GZ / TGZ, and single-file GZ (gzip) archives extract with no other software installed — type or paste the archive's path, pick a destination folder, and click Extract.
• 7z and xz open through 7-Zip. If the free 7-Zip program is installed on your computer, UnpackForge uses it to open .7z and .xz archives. If it isn't installed, you get a clear message saying so instead of a silent failure.
• Creates ZIP archives. Bundle files and folders — several at once — into a new .zip.
• Refuses unsafe entries. Archive entries that try to land outside your destination folder (absolute paths, ".." tricks) are skipped and reported, never written.
• Deactivate from inside the app. A "Deactivate this computer" button frees that computer's activation slot when you replace a machine — no support ticket, no waiting.
• Everything stays on your computer. Your files are never uploaded anywhere; the only requests UnpackForge ever makes to CertSight are the activation and deactivation checks. No account, no telemetry.

⚠️ Scope notes — read before you buy

• Creation is ZIP-only in v1. UnpackForge opens several formats but only writes .zip archives — it does not create tar, 7z, or xz files.
• 7z and xz need 7-Zip installed. 7-Zip is a free, separate program and is not bundled with UnpackForge. Without it, .7z and .xz files can't be opened; zip, tar, and gzip work regardless.
• RAR is not supported in v1. .rar files are refused with a clear message — RAR decompression licensing doesn't fit this build, and we'd rather refuse the file than fail halfway through it.
• Windows only for now. The download below is a Windows portable build. There is no macOS or Linux build yet — we'd rather say that plainly than promise one. Your license will work on those builds if and when they're published.
• Human GUI click-through is still pending. Checkout, licensing, and activation are covered end to end by automated tests, but the app's hands-on flows have not yet had a full human play-through on a real Windows machine — the in-app experience is v1 and we will say so plainly until that pass is done.

macOS and Linux are not available yet. There is no build for them today; if one is published later, this same license key will activate it.

The app is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show a warning on first launch — this is normal for a new publisher. Choose "More info → Run anyway" to start it.

How activation works: at checkout your license key is emailed to you (and can be shown on screen right after payment). Enter it on the app's activation screen — one license activates on up to 3 computers, with 30-day offline trust after activation. Replacing a computer? Use "Deactivate this computer" inside the app to free its slot, or generate a fresh key from your account page (the old key stops working).
